'Feral'
George Monbiot
Mobiot's personal yearning, an 'ecological boredom' that drives him into reconecting with our ecologies is a recognisable feeling within myself. Thoughtful, descriptive and factual that outlines the intersectionality of our environment and ecology, with politics, colonialism, capitalism, class, gender, accsess and climate change. How 'rewilding' is a means of reconnecting us to nature to support ecosystems and our communities
Bouldering/climbing as a space for mindfulness/meditation
Click for Weblinks and Youtube on research into professional climbers. Detailed and dedicated attention to their movement and knowledge of each move/hold within a sequence. Propelled my attention into climbing, full body-action markmaking and repition/duration of performances
Useful artist reseach in relation to the body/Environment/space. Form, markmaking, suspension

Her use of her own female body in performance through kinetic movement, suspension, restraint and markmaking/writing, speaks to themes of objectification of womens bodies in society. Refreshing female perspective on the connotations surrounding the body, in turn raising questions around the connotions of my bodies performative mark making.
power of langauge, such as his discussion on the geographical implications associated with the lexis 'dirt' or 'earth'. Especially interesting in relation to how we speak and catorgorise nature, rewilding vs conservation. Along with, the language of climbing.

Unlike 'Ceremaster cycle' , which I found to overly theatrical, 'Drawing Restraint' offers an on going exploration into the body, the bodies limites and influence of objects/technology/artistic materials. Experiments in space using props of this to alter his bodies movement, in turn exposing himself to a degree of vulnerability.
Interesting development of the importance in location relating to context, especially with 'Redoubt' in regards to humans relationship to the "wild" in relation to gender and rewilding. Rewilding and humans connection with nature also explored in George Mobiot's 'Feral'.

Materiality of objects, such as stone or mud, and their contextual relations to environment and memeory. I have found his energy of making from working to splattering mud insightful into my own processes of creating that are drawn from my lived eperiences in nature. Paired by his mud works relating to my movements documented with ink and chalk.
Marina Abramovic
Collection of preparing body and mindset for performing. The habbitual tasks mirror influences of Zen and Taoism. Influential for how I might transfer my presence/mindset in nature to connecting with an audience in durational performances.
Documentary of Marinas performances. Really insightful into performances relationship to theatre and the fears/connotations attached to the female body. Marina shows her minds strength and will power once again through vulnerable, durational performances that connect the audience in the present moment.
Though I do not intentionally act as a mirror to the audience, they will inevitably project onto me. Yet we are still engaging together in the present.
Reflections on the use of the object in relation to performance from 1960s onwards.
Research into body as a sculptural form, process, reciprocity between people and things, and the shift in contemporary art whos boundaries are becoming defined through duration and ideas over objecthood.
Relates to my practice through rummination on role of platforms as an extension of the environment or prop, like the ceramic holds.

Wonderful synthesis of theorists thoughts on duration, time, repition in life and art to break free from capitalism
"A Character of pure life"
Has consistently stuck with me. elevates a natural rawness and celebration to overlooked habits, movements. Naturally, connected to the aspects of climbing. My bodies movements with the rock, our land, and the overall sillyness that I just love climbing boulders that you become obsessed with. practicing and repeating routes and specific movements until it becomes second nature.
Yet, accentuates my own acute awareness of my own bodies ability to partake in these movements like climbing.

in preparation for a durational piece, i am interested in how might i prepare my mindset for this. How the artist is affected by duration.
